1. Who We Are
Qwelm is a "chat with your books" app built by Latencot ("we", "us", "our"),
an Indian product studio operated by Sankalp Pol. You can reach us at

2. Information We Collect
When you use Qwelm, we collect:
- Account details — your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account, provided when you sign in with Google.
- Books you upload — the PDF or EPUB files you add, and text extracted from them, so the app can answer questions about them.
- Your chats — the questions you ask and the AI responses, stored so your conversations persist.
- Usage data — counts of messages and AI tokens used, needed to show your usage and enforce per-account limits.
We do not collect payment information, precise location, or contacts.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To process and index your uploaded books and answer your questions about them.
- To store your chat history so it's there when you return.
- To measure usage and enforce limits and prevent abuse.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing.
4. Third-Party Services
To run Qwelm, your data is processed by these providers:
- Google Sign-In — for authentication; governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Groq (groq.com) — the AI provider; your questions and relevant excerpts from your book are sent to it to generate answers.
- Google Cloud Platform — hosting (Cloud Run) and storage of your uploaded book files (Cloud Storage).
- Convex (convex.dev) — stores your chats and messages.
- MongoDB Atlas — stores your account and book metadata.
- Upstash (upstash.com) — stores text embeddings used to search your books.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting a book removes its file and indexed
text; deleting a chat removes its messages. To delete your account and all associated data,
contact us at sankalppolk123@gmail.com.
6. Security
Your sign-in token is stored securely on your device. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS).
No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect
your information.
7. Children's Privacy
Qwelm is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision.
